Strong quakes jolt central Japan, major tsunami warning issued

A series of strong earthquakes, including one with a magnitude of 7.6, struck Ishikawa in central Japan, with tsunami warnings subsequently issued.

NHK has warned torrents of water could reach as high as five meters after the quake. No abnormalities have been reported in nuclear plants so far, said the government.
