Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday exchanged congratulatory messages with his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden over the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic ties is a major event in the history of China-U.S. relations and international relations, Xi noted. The past 45 years witnessed progress in China-U.S. relations despite ups and downs, he said.
History has proven that mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation is the right way for the two countries to get along, said Xi.
He urged both sides to promote stable, healthy and sustainable bilateral relations with concrete actions.
Xi added that he is willing to work with Biden and bring more benefits to the two countries as well as the two peoples, and promote the cause of world peace and development.
For his part, Biden said he is committed to manage the bilateral ties in a responsible way and continue to promote U.S.-China relations.
