At least 16 people were confirmed dead in Ishikawa prefecture after a massive earthquake hit the area in central Japan and the vicinity, local media Mainichi Shimbun reported on Tuesday.
More than 46,000 people have been evacuated in Ishikawa and Toyama prefecture as of Tuesday morning, reported NHK.
