The world's largest ultra-high-altitude wind power generation project, built at an altitude of 4,650 meters, started operation in Nagqu, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Monday, the first day of 2024.

With a capacity of 100 megawatts, the wind farm is designed to provide 200 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year to 230,000 local residents. It could save a total of 60,000 tonnes of standard coal and cut carbon dioxide emissions by about 200,000 tonnes.
