The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) delivered its fourth domestically developed C919 passenger plane to China Eastern Airlines for commercial operation on Tuesday.
The delivery was completed by a short flight in the morning from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport to the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.
The delivered plane is one of the five aircraft that China Eastern Airlines has ordered in its first purchase of five C919 planes in 2021. The third one was delivered in early December 2023.
As of December 31, 2023, the C919 aircraft of China Eastern Airlines has carried out 655 commercial flights, carrying nearly 82,000 passengers, since the C919's maiden commercial flight on May 28, 2023.
In September 2023, China Eastern Airlines purchased 100 more C919 planes from COMAC, the largest order for the jet. The planes will be delivered in batches from 2024 to 2031.
