The giant panda is an ancient species. More than eight million years ago, its ancestor Ailurarctos roamed the planet. Over the extended period, it evolved into the giant panda. The Qinling panda is a subspecies of giant panda, and in the Qinling Mountains, about 10 wild Qinling pandas live per 100 square kilometers.
