A magnitude-7.6 earthquake jolted Noto Peninsula in Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture at 4:10 p.m. local time on January 1, triggering a tsunami. According to the Japan Broadcasting Corporation, the Noto region experienced another earthquake at around 6:48 p.m. local time on January 3, with a magnitude of 4.8 and a depth of 10 kilometers. CGTN stringer has the latest from the affected area, where there is currently an adequate supply of food and other essential items. However, aftershocks continue to occur. The residents are on standby for possible evacuation.
