China Media Group (CMG) on Thursday unveiled four sub-venues for the 2024 Spring Festival Gala, namely northeast China's Shenyang, northwest China's Xi'an and Kashgar, and central China's Changsha.
The four sub-venues will join the main venue, Beijing, to showcase this year's gala on the eve of Chinese New Year, which falls on February 9.
CMG President Shen Haixiong attended the launch.
Zhang Guofei, director of CMG's arts program center, said the Spring Festival Gala is a major cultural event for all Chinese people and has become the "golden business card" for the international communication of Chinese culture.
The 2024 Spring Festival Gala will adopt the "1+4" model, consisting of a main venue and four sub-venues, and will strive to make the sub-venues and the main venue blend together through holistic design, artistic expression and refined presentation to show the rich folk culture of different parts of the country and highlight the colorful new atmosphere of the new era, Zhang said.
The Spring Festival Gala team will dig deep into the unique historical and humanistic highlights and regional characteristics of each venue, give full play to the advantages of linking the main venue with the sub-venues and show the joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere of the Lunar New Year across the country through diversified art forms, he said.
