The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday said China advocates maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and resolving the peninsula issue through dialogue and consultation.

Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to the current situation on the peninsula.

Noting that the recent situation on the peninsula continues to intensify, Wang said China hopes all relevant parties will remain calm and restrained, and refrain from taking actions that escalate the tension to create conditions for resuming meaningful dialogue.
