Forging cross-border bonds: American roots rediscovered in Kuliang, Fujian

03:13

In 2016, landscape designer Lin Yinan embarked on a journey to help Americans Peter and Elyn trace their roots in Kuliang, a summer resort near Fuzhou, capital city of southeastern China's Fujian Province. After seven years, Lin located their old property and uncovered stories behind Kuliang's foreign residences. It has been crucial for today's tourism and historical research. Lin reflects on connecting with people during his research, finding reunions more touching than any of his discoveries. Highlighting China-U.S. grassroots ties, Lin says these stories are a starting point, erasing boundaries between people.
