Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye said on Wednesday that the Gaza Strip, which has been under an intense Israeli military assault for nearly three months, is witnessing an "unprecedented state of hunger and starvation."

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Thursday that local Palestinians will run civilian affairs in the Gaza Strip while Israel will maintain security control of the coastal enclave after the current conflict ends.
Gallant said Israel is going to move into what he referred to as phase 3 of the conflict, which would include raids, destruction of "terror" tunnels, aerial and ground activities, and special operations.

The UN Security Council on Wednesday held an open meeting on Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, amid growing concerns for global trade and regional stability due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
A Chinese envoy on Wednesday expressed China's steadfast commitment to collaborate with all involved parties in ongoing efforts to facilitate de-escalation in the Red Sea.
"China stays committed to working with all parties to make unremitting efforts to promote de-escalation in the Red Sea, a political settlement of the Yemen issue, the cessation of hostilities in Gaza, and long-lasting peace and stability in the Middle East," Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, told the Security Council.

France announced Friday that a French and a Jordanian military transport aircraft air-dropped a total of seven tonnes of medical aid to a field hospital in the Gaza Strip during a joint operation. The operation is meant to deliver medical aid to the Jordanian field hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis.
