Chinese archaeologists have found an image of "loong" (dragon) in the Hongshan culture, an important part of the Neolithic Age dating back to some 5,000 to 6,500 years. The loong-shaped mussel ornament was unearthed in Chifeng City in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region last year. Cultural relics with early images of the "loong" were mostly found in large sacrificial sites or high-level tombs. However, the loong-shaped mussel ornament was unearthed from a lower-level living community.
