An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 jetliner made an emergency landing on January 5 after a door plug partway down the plane blew off, leaving a gaping hole and passengers aboard in panic. Luckily no one was seriously injured in the mid-air fiasco, but the U.S. airline manufacturer Boeing has come under renewed scrutiny as the National Transportation Safety Board conducts an investigation and its 737 MAX airplanes are grounded in U.S. and across the world.
