China congratulated Bangladesh on successfully holding the national election as scheduled, and the Awami League (AL) party for wining the election, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday.

In response, Mao said China, as a friendly neighbor, supports Bangladesh in advancing various political agendas in accordance with the law.

On the basis of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, China stands ready to work with the new government of Bangladesh to further carry forward the traditional friendship, advance the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, aiming to promote the China-Bangladesh strategic cooperative partnership to achieve greater development, she said.
