China launched a new X-ray satellite into its planned orbit atop a Long March-2C carrier rocket on Tuesday. From its orbit 600 kilometers above ground, the probe will use its wide-field X-ray telescope, built using novel lobster-eye optics technology, to discover high-energy transients and monitor variable objects.
