In Beiting Ancient City in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, archaeologists have discovered an ancient engraved ceramic shard. The Chinese characters, Bei Tian Si (悲田寺), inscribed upon it indicate the presence of a charitable organization established by the Tang Dynasty's central government. It gives the world a look at the influence of the Tang's social policy and Buddhism culture on Xinjiang.
