Can Argentina's new president-elect tame inflation and rebuild the economy?

CGTN

29:36

Argentina has elected Javier Milei to be the next president. The president-elect, viewed as a far-right libertarian, has pledged drastic and immediate reforms to tame the country's triple-digit inflation and end what he calls Argentina's decline. How did this relatively inexperienced politician win the election? What policies can we expect from the new president? And will he succeed in re-building the country's economy? Guests in this episode are Jorge Heine, former Chilean ambassador to China; Professor Jiang Shixue of Shanghai University; and Salvador Marinaro, associate professor at the College of Foreign Languages and Literature in Fudan University.
