Residents are bracing themselves for the next round of flooding as the water level of rivers in the Australian state of Victoria remains high after rainstorm-triggered floods ravaged the area.

Australia has been hit by a consecutive series of heavy rainstorms which has seen many rivers swelling up in the state of Victoria. The towns of Seymour and Yea, which sit some 100 kilometers to the north of Melbourne, were among the worst affected areas.

The Goulburn River is one of Victoria state's main rivers, and runs through the towns of Seymour and Yea. Its water level was recorded at 5.8 meters on Tuesday, and is expected to reach 6 meters on Wednesday. A flood alert has been issued in Yea, according to local departments.

With the next flood peak looming, residents who have returned to their homes are now on high alert themselves.
