Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong on Thursday called for pragmatic cooperation on law enforcement between China and the United States in a video call with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.

Noting that the two heads of state agreed on establishing a working group on counternarcotics cooperation during their November meeting in San Francisco, Wang said the law enforcement agencies of the two countries should work together to implement it.

The two sides should uphold the correct way of getting along with each other, which is mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, and conduct pragmatic law enforcement cooperation based on the rule of law and professionalism, so as to provide more positive energy for the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. relations, he said.

Both sides also exchanged views on strengthening dialogue and cooperation in the field of law enforcement.
