Throughout his life Cui Chaorong from Xiamen in southeast China's Fujian Province has devoted himself to preserving a grand tradition: the ancient art of Xiamen Lacquer Thread Sculpting. Working together with his family he fully preserves the essential four steps of this exquisite craft, sculpting, applying a powdered foundation, decorating with lacquer threads, and embellishing with gold and colors, for future generations to enjoy.
