U.S. students visit Maglev lab and experience rural life in Chengdu

A group of students from Columbia University have experienced the achievements of China's rail transit system and sampled rural life on a trip to Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

Comprised of 29 students, the delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Rail Transit Vehicle System at Southwest Jiaotong University on January 10, where they learned about the development of high-temperature superconducting magnetic levitation, or Maglev, rail transportation in China.

The students from the United States visited Chengdu from January 7 to 10, where they had time to soak up the charms of the city from different perspectives.

They visited a dekopon citrus orchard and picked fruit on January 9 to experience the charm of village life.

Other activities on the tour included visits to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. The students also savored Sichuan cuisine in Chengdu and enjoyed the city's vibrant nightlife.
