In Beiting Ancient City in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, archaeologists discovered a lotus-pattern brick, characteristic of a royal architectural style during the Tang Dynasty over a thousand years ago. Bricks of this kind have also been found in the ruins of Daming Palace and Huaqing Palace in northwest China's Xi'an City.
