In China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, archeologists have discovered an ancient city site called Beiting. It is deemed to be the cradle of civilization in the northern Tianshan Mountains. Beiting witnessed the integration of Buddhist ideas, local cultures and historical policies from central China over 1,000 years ago.
