Several families of Phayre's leaf monkeys, listed as an endangered monkey species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, were recently captured on camera in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The footage shows several monkey families living in a dense forest in Yunnan's Mangshi City, with mothers tenderly holding their young golden-furred babies in their arms, while others scampering up and down tree branches.

The monkey is distinguished by the white circles around its eyes and mouth. Its hair shifts from golden to gray around five or six months after birth.

The species is listed under the highest state protection in China. Its populations are largely scattered across western areas of Yunnan and in eastern and northern Myanmar.
