Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu started off his state visit to China on January 8 in the southern Chinese city Xiamen in Fujian Province, rather than Beijing or Shanghai. Why the choice? He told CGTN's Wang Guan that Fujian Province is where President Xi Jinping worked for more than 17 years, and is a region that shares similar conditions and development plans with Maldives. President Muizzu said he wants "to learn from the developers of these areas and to exchange ideas."
