The Republic of Nauru has severed ties with the Taiwan region and reiterated its support of the one-China principle. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said China is ready to work with Nauru on a new chapter in bilateral relations. Chen Hong from East China Normal University said China's cooperation with Pacific countries are acknowledged by the government and people of Nauru.
