China urges the Philippines to stop playing with fire on the Taiwan question and suggests President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos read more to develop a proper understanding of the ins and outs of the Taiwan question and come to the right conclusion, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday. 

Mao made the statement at a daily press briefing in Beijing after the Philippine president congratulated the candidate of the Democratic Progressive Party, Lai Ching-te, on winning the leadership election in the Taiwan region.
