The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that Nauru's right decision to recognize the one-China principle and sever "diplomatic relations" with the Taiwan region was made independently as a sovereign country, refuting Taiwan local media reports, which claimed the Chinese mainland swooped in while the island country is in need of financial aid.
The Parliament of Nauru has approved and passed a motion on Tuesday in relation to the restoration of full diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.
