The Pakistan Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that it has recalled its ambassador from Iran following Iran's "unprovoked and blatant breach of Pakistan's sovereignty" last night.
Pakistan said neighboring Iran violated its airspace and resulted in the death of two children and injuries of three others, hours after Iranian state media said missiles targeted two bases of militant group Jaish al Adl on Tuesday.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry condemned Iran's act as "illegal," "completely unacceptable" and having "no justification."
"We have conveyed this message to the Iranian Government. We have also informed them that Pakistan has decided to recall its ambassador from Iran and that the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan who is currently visiting Iran may not return for the time being," the statement said. "We have also decided to suspend all high level visits which were ongoing or were planned between Pakistan and Iran in coming days."
Jaish al Adl, also known as Jaish al-Zulm, was designated by Iran as a terrorist group and has previously mounted attacks on Iranian security forces in the border area with Pakistan.
