Dozens of yachtsmen from around the world took on an icy challenge at the 2024 International Ice Yacht Circuit in Jinzhou City of northeast China's Liaoning Province from January 12 to 15. The event was being held in China for the first time. The competition attracted 53 top athletes from 10 countries, including China, the U.S., the UK, Russia and Switzerland, who sailed across the frozen surface of the Bohai Sea. The sport is a considerably different challenge from typical yacht sailing on water, with the highest speed of these ice yachts exceeding 150 kilometers per hour as they glide on ice.
