The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that it carried out military strikes against "terrorist hideouts" in southeast Iran, after Tehran launched attacks on Pakistani territory.
"This morning Pakistan undertook a series of highly coordinated and specifically targeted precision military strikes against terrorist hideouts in Sistan-Baluchestan province of Iran," a foreign ministry statement said, adding that a "number of terrorists were killed."
In the statement, the foreign ministry also "emphasized dialogue and cooperation in confronting common challenges including the menace of terrorism" with Iran.
The missiles, launched from Pakistan's direction, hit a border village in the Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan, killing seven people, according to Iranian state media.
