Israel has destroyed around two thirds of Hamas' fighting regiments in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday, vowing to press on with the war until "complete victory."

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Netanyahu also said Israel must have security control over all land west of the River Jordan, which would include the territory of any future Palestinian state.

"In any future arrangement … Israel needs security control all territory west of Jordan. This clashes with the idea of (Palestinian) sovereignty. What can you do?” he said when asked about reports that he told Washington he objected to any Palestinian statehood that did not guarantee Israel's security.
