In high summer, Erhai Lake in southwest China's Yunnan Province is adorned with clusters of delicate white flowers, named Ottelia acuminata. The flower is believed to hide under the surface in the absence of sunshine, and emerges to bloom exultantly when the sun comes out. Hence, it has the nickname "the sunflower in the water."
