Tradition spurs demand for aged vinegar in N China's Shanxi

01:02

With the Chinese New Year less than a month away, residents are lining up at the door of a centuries-old vinegar store in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province. Shanxi's extra aged vinegar is very well-known in China. Every year at this time, locals soak garlic in the extra aged vinegar and eat it with dumplings. The store says the number of customers has been surging since January 11, the first day of the last month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
