Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva pledged unswerving commitment to the one-China policy on Friday when meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Fortaleza, Brazil.
Lula expressed hope for more high-level exchanges between the two sides to take the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.
Brazil is ready to deepen cooperation with China and welcomes more investment from Chinese enterprises, he said.
The Brazilian president said both countries share important consensus in a number of major issues, calling for joint efforts to enhance the overall strength and global voice of developing countries.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China has always given priority to its relations with Brazil in its diplomacy.
Wang urged joint efforts to deepen China's cooperation with Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur).
China is ready to take the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to strengthen the synergy of development strategies as well as high-level exchanges, and open up new prospects for the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership, he added.
On Friday, Wang also co-chaired the fourth China-Brazil Foreign Ministerial-Level Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue with his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira.
The two foreign ministers agreed to expand cooperation in fields such as connectivity, healthcare, green development, digital economy, clean energy and artificial intelligence.
