Chinese FM Wang Yi meets with Celso Amorim, advisor to Brazilian president

China and Brazil have pledged to deepen strategic cooperation. This comes as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits Brazil, after a six-day trip in Africa. On Friday, Wang met with Celso Amorim, advisor to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Wang thanked Brazil for firmly supporting China in safeguarding its core interests. He also said China supports Brazil in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs. Amorim said Brazil firmly stands by China's position on the Taiwan question and will continue to abide by the one-China principle. He hailed the Brazil-China comprehensive strategic partnership as transcending bilateral scope to become an important balancing factor in the global arena.
