A series of activities have been held in New York to mark the upcoming Year of the Dragon.
On January 19, the Chinese Consulate General in New York held a ceremony to launch the distribution of Spring Festival packages. The red packages contain Chinese New Year cards, Spring Festival items such as couplets, posters bearing the Chinese character for good luck, "fu," Chinese knots, and traditional Spring Festival snacks such as peanuts and candies.

More than 100 representatives of the Chinese community in the Eastern United States attended the ceremony.
