On January 20, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he "will not compromise on full Israeli control" over Gaza and that "this is contrary to a Palestinian state." This contradicts Biden's earlier suggestion that Netanyahu is not opposed to some form of a two-state solution. Professor Wang Jin from the Institute of Middle East Studies at Northwest University says that it shows a sharp division between the two allies.
