A plane carrying six passengers disappeared from radar over Afghanistan last night, according to Russian authorities on Sunday.
The missing Falcon plane, with four crew members and two passengers aboard, was performing a charter ambulance flight on the route Gaya (India) - Tashkent (Uzbekistan) - Zhukovsky (Russia), RIA news agency quoted the Federal Air Transport Agency as saying.
The plane stopped communicating and disappeared from radar on Saturday evening, and it was in Afghan airspace, near the border of Tajikistan, the agency said, adding the search for the aircraft is underway.
RIA news agency later said the flight was a medical evacuation from Thailand to Moscow.
The two passengers were Russian citizens, TASS reported, adding technical malfunction of two engines was the cause of the plane crash, according to a preliminary investigation.
