There have been 83 confirmed weather-related fatalities linked to the past week's winter weather in the United States, CBS News reported, even as dangerous cold continues to hit northern and southeastern regions in the country.

Storms have walloped the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, Plains, South and Northeast with low temperatures, heavy snow, ice storms, freezing rain and high winds for the past two weeks.

The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed 19 weather-related fatalities, and Oregon officials have confirmed 16, including three adults who died when a tree fell on their car.

More deaths were reported in the states of Illinois, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Washington, Kentucky, Wisconsin, New York, New Jersey and more.

Some deaths remain under investigation to confirm that they are weather-related. This includes a few death related to car accidents. Some states warned drivers to take extra caution on the roads during the deep freeze. Mississippi officials told its residents to "be aware of black ice on the roads, and drive only if necessary."

Dangerous weather is continuing across the U.S. into the weekend. Tens of millions of people woke up to bitterly cold, below-average temperatures on Saturday morning, and the Eastern half of the country will likely experience some of the coldest weather yet this season with dangerous wind chills and hard freeze warnings extending into Northern Florida.

On the West Coast, Oregon remains under a state of emergency after deadly ice storms pummeled the reason, leaving more than 41,000 customers without electricity in the state early on Saturday. Other power outages have been reported in Pennsylvania, California, New Mexico and Indiana.
