Turpan was not only a hub for the distribution of goods, but also a place where rich cultures met along the Silk Road. The Tuyugou Caves, which have existed here for over 1,700 years, are an excellent example of this fusion of cultures. The murals in the Buddhist caves of Tuyugou preserve the culture of different eras of Buddhism, demonstrating the artistic attainments and creative materials of different periods. Unfortunately, these colorful cultural relics will slowly disappear with the passing of time.
