The Health Ministry in Kazakhstan said on Tuesday that 44 people suffered "various forms of injuries of mild and moderate severity, such as head injuries, bruises, limb sprains" and had sought medical help in the city of Almaty, the country's largest, after a magnitude-7.1 earthquake hit northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, near the China-Kyrgyzstan border.
