China launched commercial carrier rocket Lijian-1 Y3 at 12:03 p.m. on Tuesday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China, carrying five satellites into preset orbit.

The five satellites were Taijing-1 03, Taijing-2 02 and 04, Taijing-3 02 and Taijing-4 03, mainly for scientific research, space probes and environmental surveys.

The launch set new records in China's multiple satellite platforms and payload technologies.

A logo of the traditional Chinese Loong (Dragon) designed by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism was painted on the rocket to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.

The mission was conducted in temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius, further verifying its capabilities in various environments.

The Lijian-1 was developed by the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and CAS Space. It has a takeoff weight of 135 tonnes, a takeoff thrust of 200 tonnes, a total length of 30 meters, a core stage diameter of 2.65 meters, and a carrying capacity of 1,500 kilograms for the 500-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit.

The solid-propellant carrier rocket was first launched in July 2022, and has already sent 37 satellites into space. It has a 100 percent launch success rate.

The mission was the third launch of the Lijian-1 carrier rocket.
