The Wudang Mountains in central China's Hubei Province are renowned for the practice of Tai Chi and Taoism and are home to a famous complex of ancient palaces, temples, and Taoist buildings dating back to the 7th century.

Situated in the scenic valleys and on the slopes of the mountains, the buildings represent the highest standards of Chinese art and architecture over a period of nearly 1,000 years.

The Ancient Building Complex in the Wudang Mountains was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.

One of Europe's major pilgrimage destinations for centuries, the Mont-Saint-Michel and its surrounding bay are among the most stunning sights in France.

Perched on a rocky tidal island sits a Gothic-style Benedictine abbey dedicated to the archangel St Michael. The gravity defying abbey marked its 1,000th anniversary last year.

Known as the "Wonder of the West," Mont-Saint-Michel and its bay were inscribed on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1979.
