China's Zheng Qinwen reaches Australian Open final

China's top-ranked tennis player, Zheng Qinwen, has reached her first Grand Slam final at the Australian Open after beating Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday.

The 12th-seeded Zheng, 21, thus becomes the second player from China to reach the Australian Open final after Li Na was crowned champion in Melbourne 10 years ago.

Zheng will face defending champion Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in their singles final on January 27.

The 25-year-old Belarusian defeated American Coco Gauff 7-6 (2), 6-4 in another semifinal on Thursday.
