Huge numbers of swans flew over the rippling waters of the Yellow River and the Loess Plateau to reach their ideal habitat at the Swan Lake National Urban Wetland Park in central China's Sanmenxia City, Henan Province, attracting tourists from around China.

The presence of swans and tourists signals that the best viewing season for swans has arrived at Sanmenxia, dubbed "The City of Swans." Every year from mid-October to March of the following year, more than 10,000 swans migrate from Siberia in Russia and Mongolia to spend winter in Sanmenxia, the largest natural habitat for white swans in the Yellow River basin.
