The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Friday a vessel positioned approximately 60 nautical miles (nm) from Yemen's city of Al Hudaydah reported hearing an explosion and sighting missiles a few miles from its position.
The UKMTO added that a further explosion at sea was sighted approximately 0.5 nm from the reporting vessel. The crew and the vessel are safe, UKMTO said.
Earlier, the UKMTO also said it had received a report of an incident 60 nm southwest of Yemen's Aden port, from where the Houthi group has been attacking ships.
It added that the authorities were investigating the incident, and no further details were provided.
Houthis, who control much of Yemen, have launched drones and missiles at ships since November 19 in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, targeting vessels they said had Israeli links or had been sailing to Israel.
The United States and UK have launched two joint strikes this month against Houthi targets in Yemen in retaliation for the group's attacks on Red Sea shipping.
