Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong held talks with his Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) counterpart Pak Myong Ho in Pyongyang on Friday.

Sun on Friday also met DPRK Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui, who is also an alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

The Chinese side and the DPRK side exchanged "extensive and in-depth" views on bilateral relations, the international and regional situation, and other issues of common concern in a "cordial and friendly" atmosphere, according to a press release by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

During the meetings, both sides spoke highly of the achievements in the development of relations between the two countries in recent years.

They also reaffirmed that it is the unswerving position of the Communist Party of China and the WPK and the Chinese and DPRK governments to maintain, consolidate and develop China-DPRK relations.

In accordance with the direction guided by the top leaders of the two parties and two countries, and taking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the China-DPRK Friendship Year as an opportunity, both sides agreed to strengthen strategic communication at all levels, deepen traditional friendship and pragmatic cooperation, and intensify multilateral coordination to make China-DPRK relations keep moving forward.

The two sides also agreed on the arrangements of major activities for the China-DPRK Friendship Year.

The Chinese vice foreign minister arrived in the DPRK on Thursday.
