The Los Angeles Lakers edged out the Golden State Warriors 145-144 in double overtimes (OTs) at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, on Saturday, securing their second straight win.

The purple and gold trailed by one point (144-143) with 4.7 seconds left in the second OT. It took the team two timeouts to pass the throw-in to LeBron James, who faced Brandin Podziemski on the top of the key. The 39-year-old veteran immediately started up without leaving any chance for the Warriors to double-team him. He beat through Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga and drove all the way to the rim before Draymond Green committed a foul to stop him.

James, who made 4.1 free throws at 74.2 percent per game this season, had gone 4-for-4 before the final moment. He knocked down both shots, putting the Lakers back in a one-point lead and leaving the opponents only 1.2 seconds for the final attack without a timeout. Curry failed to shoot the desperate 3-pointer before the time ran out.

Despite his age, James played nearly 48 minutes in Saturday's game, the second-longest of all Lakers. He dropped a triple-double of 36 points, career-high 20 rebounds and 12 assists. Twelve of his points were scored in the two OTs. Anthony Davis contributed a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds, plus four blocks. D'Angelo Russell braced himself after the struggling first half to get 24 of his 28 points in the second half and the two OTs.

The Lakers' best plus-minus (30) on Saturday night belonged to Jarred Vanderbilt, who came off the bench but played 41 minutes in the game. He had 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. His size, quickness, and all-or-nothing approach to defense caused a lot of trouble for the Warriors.

Stephen Curry shot 35 field goals (FGs) in Saturday's game and made 17 of them to score a season-high 46 points. In the Warriors' final play in the fourth quarter, he remained calm and collected, first dodged Vanderbilt via Green's screen, and then kept dribbling to draw Davis out of the paint before suddenly charging the rim with a quick speed change to make a game-tying layup.

In the second OT, Curry scored 10 of the Warriors' 14 points, including draining his ninth 3-pointer to enable his side to lead 144-143 before James' game-winning free-throws-shooting performance.

The Warriors had four players reach 20+ points on Saturday night. Klay Thompson, Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins combined to knock down 11 triples. Thompson made a big 3-pointer to drag the game into the second OT when there were 5.9 seconds left in the first one. Like Russell, he overcame a poor first half, in which he missed seven of his eight attempts from the field, and got 22 points in the second half plus the two OTs.

Green appeared in the Warriors' starting lineup for the first time since his suspension ended. He got eight points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists, three steals and two blocks in addition to the team's best plus-minus of 31. When he was on the court, Curry could focus on scoring instead of making plays. The team had a trustworthy defender for both switching and helping in Green.

Other games on Saturday (away teams come first):

Miami Heat 109-125 New York Knicks

The Knicks extended their winning streak to six games after beating the Heat at Madison Square Garden in New York City and rose to the top four in the Eastern Conference. However, they were hit by the bad news of Julius Randle's shoulder dislocation. He fell hard in the fourth quarter and stayed down for a moment before his teammates pulled him up using his left arm.

Randle went through X-rays, which didn't show much damage. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is scheduled for later on Saturday. The Knicks' head coach, Tom Thibodeau, said he's "very" concerned about Randle's injury.
