After three years of preparation, the Chinese version of the French classic Les Misérables by Victor Hugo premiered at the Beijing Poly Theatre. Renowned French director Jean Bellorini, a veteran in blending theatrical performances with musical elements, led a full cast of Chinese actors, including leading actor Liu Ye. According to the organizers, all dialogue featured in the play is drawn directly from the novel, and the entire musical composition was composed by the French team. Following its premiere, the play will embark on a nationwide tour spanning six months and covering 15 cities.

JEAN BELLORINI Director, Les Misérables "I arrived with dreams and desires, and they were completely achieved by the Chinese actors throughout the entire adventure. I imagine that the Chinese actors underwent a genuine journey unlike any we've experienced before. That's the whole point of cultural exchange. I believe it is to create new cultures from the intersection of two distinct cultures."
